Why doesn't my badge look exactly right?
What you see may not look perfect, but what you get will be. The representation of your designed badge on this web site will be remarkably close to what you will receive. The computer rendition that you preview may have slight variations in size and color for lettering, and slight spacing difference between numbers or letters may be noticeable. Be assured that your finished new badge will be manufactured to meet your expectations as well as ours.
Who manufactures these badges?
These badges are manufactured by Blackinton®. The Blackinton® name has been synonymous with expert craftsmanship since its early beginnings in 1852. The high standards that Virgil Blackinton established in those early days were strictly enforced throughout the decades and they continue to do so today. Today they also combine that old world craftsmanship with cutting-edge manufacturing technology to produce the finest quality badges and insignia for law enforcement professionals. Blackinton® products are made in the USA.
What is the delivery time for a badge?
Please allow 3-4 weeks for delivery.
What is the return policy?
If your badge and/or custom wallet is made exactly as you ordered, then it is NOT returnable. If you receive a custom badge from Blackinton and it is not what you specified in your order, please contact us and we will correct your badge or have it re-made 800-852-6088 or sales@wpsginc.com
What are the badge finish options?
Nickel: A hot nickel solution applied by the electroplating process to the polished base metal of a badge. It is silver in color and has a fair degree of hardness. Nickel plate will sometimes lose some of its luster with age.
Rhodium: Rhodium, an element within the platinum metal group, is a precious metal that is applied by the electroplating process over a bright nickel base. Rhodium can be distinguished by its brilliant white finish and is tarnish resistant. It will not discolor or peel from the surfact of the badge.
Gold: A deposit of 22K+ fine gold electroplate on base material for a rich, bright appearance.
Two-Tone*: A combination of gold and silver colors. Badges with applied panels will normally consist of Hi-Glo material for the gold color and Rho-Glo material for the silver color. Badges of one-piece construction will consist of Hi-Glo panels and rhodium background or Rho-Glo panels and gold plate background.
Rho-Glo* & Hi-Glo*: A base material which has a solid silver or gold color throughout and requires no surface plating. Highly polished to a brilliant luster, a clear coating is then applied to enhance its durability.
VHB KK (KaratClad)*: A heavy gold electroplate (HGE), it is the ultimate in fine gold plate. This process applies a uniformly thick coating of tarnish proof high karat gold, purer and more durable than gold plate.
*Price includes hard enamel lettering and a full color seal.
What are the badge lettering options?
SOFT: Lettering is filled with a choice of Black, Blue or Red enamel color, leveled and air cured.
HARD: Lettering is filled with enamel, baked to hard finish, and ground until flush with the surface of the badge. Please note that HARD is an additional $10.
What is the warranty on a badge?
Blackinton® strives for 100% customer satisfaction. The appearance and structure of your badges are enhanced by quality materials and expert craftsmanship. Manufacturing defects, if any will be promptly corrected.
What kind of mounting hardware comes with the badge?
There are 4 different badge back options: Pin & Safety Catch, Wallet Clip, Screw Back and Clutch Back. These options are available to select while building your badge.
Is it possible to make a custom center seal and what is the cost?
Custom center seals can be made for your department. There is a one time setup charge for the seal. If you purchase 25 or more badges with the seal the setup charge is waived. For orders of less than 25 badges, there will be a $350 die setup charge. Please contact us if you need assistance with custom seals.
Are price breaks available for large quantity orders?

Do you offer badges for police dogs?
K9 Tags are available and feature a 2" disc with collar attachment. Please contact us for further information.
How will my badge be shipped?
All badges are shipped via First Class Mail unless otherwise specified.
