Rules the ocean!

by

I use the helmet while scuba diving. With students it allows me to demonstrate the effective use of protective equipment. With dive customers, it allows me an extra layer of protection and greatly increases my visibility above, and below the surface of the water. The only issue is the strap. It slides on my hood and requires repeated adjustment. I did not have this problem with my original helmet.

Q&A's:

"Is this helmet NFPA certified for water rescue as well as rope rescue?"

Phil, sorry it is not, it meets the following certifications; -Helmet certified to AS/NZS1801:1997, Type 1 & 2. -Face shield is approved to EN166 (equivalent to AS/NZS1337.1). -Meeting the requirement of PPE Directive 89/686/EEC. -Complies with EN397:1995.

"Is this helmet suitable for vehicle extrication too?"

They do not reccommend this helmet for extrication, but they have the P/N R5T helmet that they say can be used for Rope Rescue, Extrication, Brush/Wildland Fires. We stock this helmet pending on what color you would want sells for $125.49

"Is this helmet certified for USAR use?"

No this helmet is not USAR certified

"Before I buy, I would like to see the difference between the WR5 ratchet versus the W-AFR314. Also, I do not need to wear chin strap. Can the WR5 be worn without the chin strap or only the W-AFR314"

Hi, both of these helmets come with a 3 point quick release, chin strap, the difference being that the AFR314 helmet is a Nomex strap, it's also NFPA 1951 Tech rescue approved. The WR5 has a polyester quick release 3 point chin strap, and is not NFPA certified. As far as needing to wear your chin strap that will be your call, it's not up to Us here to make that choice for you either way you decide, it's in your hands.
