Unlike the familiar air splints, the EMS Immobile-VAC Leg Splint forms around the extremity without exerting external pressure on the injury site. The EMS Immobile-VAC Vacuum Splints and Mattresses are the new standard of care in patient immobilization. These highly effective aids for external, temporary fracture fixation and immobilization have been developed and tested throughout the world. Whether in Europe, Australia, Japan or the United States, the EMS Immobile-VAC system provides the required immobilization and support without placing unnecessary pressure on the injury site.
EMS Immobile-VAC systems respond to the concerns of the medical professional by offering a unit that is easy to clean. The removable strapping system reduces the areas that could trap fluids. The valve is easy to use, even when wearing gloves, and is easy to find in the dark.
In many cases, the Leg Splint may be used to immobilize the knee along with the ankle. Since there are no hook and loop straps used, minor adjustments after drawing a vacuum may be easily accomplished without removing the straps.

They are not inflated, the are vacuum splints, therefore the air is withdrawn via a pump and the splint forms to the injured extremity.
