Great protection when gassing protesters!

by

Wore one while using copious amounts of CS Gas on protesters. While they're coughing violently and panicking, I'm enjoying the full view through the poly-carbonate face shield. The view is great through this. Hope they don't find out about this product, but I figure all their money goes to drugs anyways, so I'm pretty confident they won't think of buying one.

Q&A's:

"Does the mask come with the 40mm canister, or does it need to be purchased separately. I understand that you can purchase the 40mm canister separately, but I wasn't able to determine if the mask itself includes a canister, or is just the mask. Thanks!"

Hello, These items are only sold separately. Thank you

"Hi, can this mask be used with a NBC filter? and are they availible? Thanks Rich"

Yes they can, as long as they are 40mm threads, and they should be available

"Are their child sizes?"

No.

"I need to buy two of these masks, but cannot find any instructions on how to judge what sizes I need. I am assuming that a small would be suitable for my wife (5'5"" and 130 lbs), but I don't have any idea what size I might need. I am 5'8"" and 185 lbs. What sizes would you recommend? I also want to make sure these are rated for chemical agents like CS gas and tear gas as well as smoke and other particulates."

There is not any kind of chart to say which size mask they can use. That is the reason OSHA says they need to fit test. However, I can tell you this: OSHA does state that 70 to 75% of the world population fits into a medium facepiece. They determine that a person of medium build weights between 120, 125 to about 215 220lbs. However ,they do not consider that facial features do make a difference in wearing a mask as well. For example, you can have a 150lb person using a large mask all because they have a large nose or protruding chin. Some facial features can cause this. More examples would be, sunken cheeks, high forehead, temples sunken in. I'm guessing you're not a member of a FD or you wouldn't be asking this questions about what size mask you would need, the above answer is the feed back I got back from Honeywell, i'm also going to recommend that you go to the Honeywell web site and contact them, with your questions,

"can I use this mask against smoke from fire?"

If you are thinking that this could replace your SCBA the answer is NO, this is tactical riot control gas mask, that you screw on a canister that provides protection against a-chloracetophenone (CN), o-chlorobenzylidene malononitrile (CS) and includes a P100 filter for use against particulates such as pepper spray TC-14G-0264.

"Please tell me the correct canister to go with the ""Suvivair Opti-Fit Control Gas Mask"

A:Butch from TheFireStore said: ""NIOSH approved with the model 1688 canister provides protection against a-chloracetophenone (CN), o-chlorobenzylidene malononitrile (CS) and includes a P100 filter for use against particulates such as pepper spray TC-14G-0264."" Thank you so much Butch -- I too read that reference in the description of the Mask on your web page. Now if you have time, can you tell me if I should use the: MSA: Millennium Riot Control(RC) Canisters-P100/CS/CN Or should I use the : MSA:Millennium CBRN Canisters for Homeland Security or are they both compatible with the Survivair Opti-Fit Mask and use specicic? These are the only two cannisters that are listed on your website. In their description there is no reference as to whether they are ""NIOSH approved 1688 canisters"". Also, the Honeywell: Survivair Opti-Fit Tactical Riot Control Gas Mask description does not indicate that it is a MSA product which the MSA filters are compatible with per their description.

"Please tell me the correct canister to go with the ""Suvivair Opti-Fit Control Gas Mask"

NIOSH approved with the model 1688 canister provides protection against a-chloracetophenone (CN), o-chlorobenzylidene malononitrile (CS) and includes a P100 filter for use against particulates such as pepper spray TC-14G-0264.

"Would this mask work against dust or plaster cloud due to a building calapse similar to WTC incident."

Skip, I'm sure you can use it for that, but it seems like it's over kill for dust/plaster dust, you can use paint masks for the same thing and a lot less money. Just my thoughts

"Does the mask come with one canister or is everything sold separately?"

everything is sold separately

"Do the MSA canisters available on your website fit this Honeywell mask? The canister descriptions don't refer to this mask, only MSA products."

they should fit, use the 40mm models,

"are these masks with the proper filters NBC approved? can you use them with these filters?CBRN MSA Millennium 10046570 NIOSH Gas Mask Filter and how well they work with together? Thanks"

Sam, this should work for all of the items you have listed,

"i live near a nuclear power plant. would this mask be effective for preventing harmful fall out dust from being breathed?"

This mask is designed to be used in a riot controlled event, we see nothing anywhere that states that it could be used for what you are suggesting

"i live near a nuclear power plant. would this mask be effective for preventing harmful fall out dust from being breathed?"

Visit CDC.gov website search for ""CDC Radiation Emergencies"" for information related to your questions. http://emergency.cdc.gov/radiation/emergencyfaq.asp http://emergency.cdc.gov/radiation/healthandsafety.asp http://emergency.cdc.gov/radiation/screeningvideos/script4.asp

"Can the Honeywell Tactical Riot Control Gas Mask be used against bio-chemical agents or is it limited to things like pepper spray and dust?"

This mask will accommodate your needs provided it is equipped with he correct canisters, which we carry but do not sell online. Unfortunately Honeywell is restructuring and getting ready to apply significant price increases. Due to that, we are currently removing their products from our website and will put them back up when pricing is set. Please contact our customer service department if you wish to purchase this item with the correct canisters for the application.

"How does one determine sizing for the mask? Are canisters standardized 40mm? Or do you have to use the manufacturers?"

Filter canisters are standard 40mm. According to Honeywell, approx 60-70% of the population fits in a medium. There really is no ""sizing"" though, it's all trial and error. That's directly from Honeywell.
