Smooth, natural draw. Since there is no snap, the SLS allows for a smoother single-motion, straight up draw and greater protection against attempted weapon takeaways. The SLS locking hood can only be released by being simultaneously pushed down and rotated forward, a move that takes no more time than opening a snap. But the rotating hood is far less likely to release accidentally, and actually become more secure when upward force is applied without making the correct release motion. With a bit of practice, you’ll find the Self Locking System (SLS) easy and natural to use—even with gloves on.
SLS Options Make Security even Higher.Easier one-handed reholstering. SLS holsters are designed for total one-handed operation. Reholstering is faster than with a thumb break holster, and because it is always done with one hand, it’s far more convenient. You just insert the pistol into the holster, keeping your hand and fingers away from the trigger guard. As you firmly seat the weapon into the holster with the heel of your hand, simply pull the hood back up into place with your fingers. Your weapon is immediately secured at Level II Retention™.
SLS
Sentry is a simple bolt-on accessory that adds an additional level
of security to any SLS duty holster. Since the operator’s thumb falls
naturally onto the lever, using the Sentry adds only two-tenths of a second
to the draw, on average. Yet it will convert a Safariland Level II Retention™ holster such as a 6280 or 6285 to Level III Retention™, or raise a 6295 or 62955Level
III holster to Level IV Retention™.
SLS Hood Guard
provides added protection to the rotating hood, yet still allows a fast, positive
draw and reholster—without adding movements or changing the natural motion
of the operator’s hand. The Hood Guard not only makes it difficult for
someone trying to grab your weapon, it can prevent objects from hitting the
SLS hood, providing extra security when rappelling or crawling, and keeping
your vest and outer clothing from interfering with your draw. It bolts onto
all SLS holsters in just minutes, using the same attachment screws as the Sentry.
